Druids Golf started in Ireland 10 years ago, in a garage with one embroidery machine, initially focusing on B2B sales to golf clubs. The bulk of our product back then was embroidering logos and custom kits, mainly in Southern Ireland and a little bit in the UK.
We were limited by how much we could produce with only one machine, but the interest was there. We’d get clubs coming to us saying they’d been recommended, so we had to figure out how to get the right systems in place to start manufacturing and selling more.

When it first started, it was very, very manual. We shipped through DPD using their app and we’d type in the address and order number for each customer, all individually.
Post-Brexit, we briefly used Parcelforce for international shipments due to unclear regulations. We were also using Zenstores as our automation platform at this point. We decided to switch to a B2C model, hoping to overcome the international challenges and enable business expansion.

Growth-wise it was fantastic - in late 2019, we moved to Edinburgh and expanded into the UK market. With a B2C model, this meant we could get set up on Shopify and TikTok Shop selling our products, and order volume shot up. It was this growth that made us realise the teething problems in our fulfilment, though. We were having issues with returned parcels, and the printing and picking process in Zen stores required someone to work on it almost all day.
We were wasting a lot of money and time on lost or returned shipments and a slow, manual fulfilment process.

We decided to switch to Peoplevox because we needed a reliable solution to streamline a large volume of orders. When we first made the switch, we had a backlog of 14,000 orders, and incredibly, we worked through those, and it’s been streamlined since.
The shipping solution we were using before led to a 30% shipping label failure rate, so we were quickly referred by Peoplevox to a Shiptheory shipping consultant. The Shiptheory account was set up and live within a day, and we now have a less than 1% failure rate.

Where Is Druids Golf At Now?
Now with Peoplevox and Shiptheory, we have a fully automated shipping process and aim to dispatch all orders placed before 3 PM on the same day. We have over 15,000 SKUs and an average of four items per order, so we ship around 10,000 items daily.
We use Royal Mail and Evri for UK shipments, while Evri and UPS handle international shipments, offering both express and standard options. Shiptheory assigns these carriers automatically, and any international documents (like commercial invoices) are printed with the label, too.
We can now create warehouse and shipping actions for 3,000 orders in as little as 20 minutes, something that used to take us all day. So, we’re very happy with where the business is at, thrilled with our current systems, and looking forward to what’s next.
